Pink Floyd admit education ‘actually quite important’

The 70s rockers have issued a statement saying that, contrary to any impression they may have given in the past, education was not really ‘thought control’ at all;  but just a question of checking whether your thoughts make sense and bear any relation to reality – ‘which isn’t such a bad thing’.

‘You’ve got to understand, we were just saying something we thought sounded vaguely rebellious and counter-cultural,’ said guitarist Dave Gilmour.  ‘But in the age of Trump and Le Pen, with every successful film based on a cartoon, we’re beginning to realise people took it way too seriously.  And as for the wall – mate, it was meant to be a metaphor. Don’t actually build the bloody thing!’

‘But it’s not even just the big things,’ chimed in bassist Roger Waters.  ‘The other day I heard someone talk about giving ‘a pacific example’. I mean, WTF?  And don’t get me started about apostrophes in plural words like ‘apple’s’ and ‘pear’s’.’

‘Yeah, and people who order an ‘expresso’ in Starbucks,’ agreed Gilmour.  ‘That really pisses me off.’

Meanwhile in America, President Trump refused to halt building works despite concerns about safety, after reports that an undocumented migrant worker had fallen into the concrete mixer and become part of the raw material.  As Trump himself put it:  ‘All in all, it’s just another spic in the wall.’
